Two weeks in and things are going so well! We just finished two weeks of orientation at IAS. I will be teaching 8th-12th Social Studies and I will have an “advisory class”. The advisory class will be a group of 7th grade boys and we will meet three days a week. The goal of this “class” is to build relationships with the students and mentor them. Help them to be successful in their studies, offer advice on life, and most importantly nurture a relationship with Jesus. I had the opportunity to meet some of my students at our back to school nights. The students, their parents, and the people of Xela for that matter have been overwhelmingly generous in welcoming me to their city. The first day of class is Monday and I am a little anxious, but excited to get started! The beginning of each school year always brings some level of anxiety. I’m not sure of the logic here, but it’s as if I’m worried that I have forgotten everything over the summer. I’m not kidding I actually Googled “How to teach” a few days ago… I guess the first of the year scaries really got me good. In all reality, I tend to overthink things, but I am trusting God with the future days. I am sure that I will settle into a groove very quickly. The students I had the privilege to meet already seem awesome and I look forward to getting to know them and their families! Monday will be the first day of my seventh year of teaching! I’m really not sure how that’s even possible, but here we go! Big announcement!! — I now have a Missonary Agency assisting me! World Outreach Ministries will serve as my home office for processing ministry support. They will send Tax-deductible receipts to my USA supporters and facilitate Online donations from anywhere in the world. This is an administrative step that will help me in many ways - processing support, online tools, continuing education resources, etc. The heart of World Outreach Ministries is to serve mission workers who are on the "frontlines" and give them the administrative help they need to be successful. I am super excited about this partnership, and I look forward to connecting with more of you through this service. Thank you so much for your continued support!
