Well well well… I missed a “weekly” email… I’m still here! I figured it wouldn't be long before I missed a check-in (sorry mom 😜). In my defense it happened — I got the food poisoning and couldn’t quite make it to the email. With the variety of adjustments that I have asked my body to make in addition to my adventurous meal choices I think it was only a matter of time. Thankfully, I have made it through to the other side and hey now I have a stronger immune system… right? I’ll tell myself that even if it may or may not be accurate. Aaanyway… The first weeks at IAS have been incredible! I am finding a groove and I am so thankful for the opportunity to be here! There is a great community at the school and at church. I am happy to have good people to help me acclimate to all the new! Between Friday hangs playing ultimate frisbee after school (Yes!! I get to play ultimate here!!), to Xelajú soccer games, grabbing dinner, or going on a Saturday morning hike, I have been welcomed in and I appreciate the support that I have received since arriving in Quetzaltenango. Classes have been great at school. I also have the opportunity to start an after school running club soon! As long as we can get students to sign up. If you didn’t know, most people don’t actually enjoy running. I know. Weird. A student did tell me that he would sign up today so there is hope!
