Ahora soy “Chapin” Recibí mi DPI esta semana, lo que me permite permanecer legalmente en el país durante 3 años!
This feels like a big deal! I have a DPI (a Guatemalan ID card) which serves as a visa and allows me to remain in country legally for the next 3 years. Now that I have it, I have found every reason to bring it up in conversation and show people! When I sent it to my family group chat and some friends I got essentially the same response “ahh… so this means you’re really staying over there for the long haul eh?” While I honestly do not know how long I will remain in Quetzaltenango, I am continually receiving confirmation that this is where I am supposed to be in life right now. Throughout the past year and a half here in Guatemala God has been so faithful. He has provided in ways that I could not have imagined and I am very thankful for every opportunity. As I look at all that God has done in my past and present I know that He is trustworty with my future and I am trusting in His plans moving forward. I have already committed to another year at IAS here in Quetzaltenango and I am likely to have a new job description in the coming school year that I am really excited about! (More to come on that later). I believe that this the place that I am to be and if that is the case I am trusting God will provide a way for me to continue serving here. Since moving to Guatemala a year ago I have received small monthly support from the states in addition to a small school salary (in Quetzales). I am incredibly thankful for all the support and every small amount has directly helped me in my ability to minister here in Xela. As I look behind and ahead, it is quickly becoming apparent to me that if I am to continue serving in this way then I will need to raise additional support. I am moving ahead and trusting God will open doors as He sees fit. I am also thankful for everyone that has followed my journey to and in Latin America thus far and I would humbly ask that if this is something that moves you or leaves you with a desire for action in Kingdom building that you would consider partnering with me in service through one time or monthly support. Every cent helps more than you can imagine and allows me to more freely serve those that God has placed in my life for this season. Thank you so much for following along! Let’s see what God will do next!

Hanging out with a group of seniors after the “senior game” at the annual school lock-in. Yes… we slept on the floor in the classrooms, but all for the memories, right?
Thankful for more opportunities lately to spend time with students outside of school! Went to dinner with some of the freshman class.
And here with some of the Junior class watching the sunrise at Baúl. Shortly after this we all won free coffee for a year from a new cafe in town!! What!?
